The Live Music Capital of the World

Among the many cities I have visited, Austin, Texas is without a doubt the most fun-filled and lively city I have seen so far. It has just about everything for anyone. With dynamic culture and entertainment, mouth-watering cuisines at various restaurants and a beautiful outdoor scene, Austin just about has it all. Also, it hosts more than 250 music venues and art festivals, but before I keep rambling on, let’s take a quick look into what all the city really has to offer!

If you decide to take a trip to Austin (which I highly recommend you do), be prepared to be astounded by the energy of the area, with lots of live music venues and huge events going on at all times. Here are just a few:

Austin City Limits

Possibly the most well-known festival in the area, Austin City Limits (also known as ACL) is huge. Hosted in Zilker Park, over 100 of today’s top artists take to eight stages to entertain nearly half a million people over two full weekends. They also have “Austin Eats” where you can sample a few of the states’ delicacies like BBQ, wings, tacos, and ice cream!

South by Southwest

South by Southwest, or SXSW for short, is a collection of music, film, and interactive conferences and festivals. It is held each year around March and its’ purpose is for “creative people to develop their careers by bringing together from around the globe to meet, learn, and share ideas.

Austin Food and Wine Festival

Hosted every April, the festival seems to attract higher-profile chefs with each year passing. You are able to attend cooking demonstrations and classes as well as tastings from people all over the country. The event is also held close to the downtown area on the shores of Lady Bird Lake. Also, for just a few extra bucks, you are able to have dinner and wine tasting with some of the notorious chefs.

Austin Film Festival

An event entirely focused on the craft of screenwriting, this festival is held in late October. Panels with screenwriters and directors throughout the day are followed by screenings downtown at the Paramount and other theaters.

Circuit of the Americas Grand Prix

Held in the fall season, it’s an event that brings in a crowd far different than that of the film or wine festival. Since most Formula 1 races are held all over the world, it is kind of a necessity to be super-wealthy to be the devoted fan.

Things To Do

With Austin being the capital of the state (with a population of nearly one million as of 2018 and serves as a home to the Texas Longhorns), there will never be a time that you can’t find something to do.

Keep in mind that Austin is a very big city with lots of energy and lots of activities to try, so these are just a few things that I thought were a “must-do” while you visit:

They have a huge variety of food to choose from and each item is bursting with mouth-watering flavor and spices! Congrats, Torchy’s. You should feel honored.
